This tall ship model was specially designed by joining multiple small pieces of wood like western red cedar, rosewood, and mahogany together on the hull by the plank on bulkhead method. The model is designed as the original Norske Love was with many details. The task required skillful craftsmen hundreds of hours to accomplish.
This beautiful Norske Love model has the bottom of the hull painted in white paint with green accents on the top rail. It features three decks, and two and a half rows of metal cannons on each side of the ship. The front bowsprit (with a brass Lion) and three large masts are connected securely using advanced rigging and lines painstakingly knotted and fastened by hand. Each yard has an attached hand-stitched unfurled sails made of fine linen. Metal anchors and a wooden rudder are visible on the front and rear of the ship. On the deck, there are wooden cabin, wooden windlass, and many other spectacular ornaments. There is also an exquisite detailed admiral's quarter on the stern with beautiful handcrafted metal lanterns and ornaments coated in brass.
The NORSKE LOVE (Norwegian Lion) was built in 1765 by the Nyholm shipyard, close to Copenhagen. The ship was named after the Norwegian Lion and the Danish-Norwegian Imperial Coat of Arms. There was a normal crew of 667 men and an armament of 70 cannons of iron with 26 cannons 24 pd. on the lower deck, 26 cannons 18 pd. on the middle deck and 18 cannons 8 pd. on the upper deck. The Norske Love was used as a guard ship in Oeresund and other Danish waters. In 1795, after having been stripped into a block ship, she was used to give shelter for homeless families after the fire in Copenhagen that same year. In 1798 she was deleted from the naval register.
