The Bayeux Tapestry Scroll is printed on 150g wood free stock. The long scroll is wrapped onto hand turned mahogany wood handles and sets into a mahogany wood presentation desk tray that measures 9.25" length x 3.25" width x 3.0" height.
Its original is famous, dating from around 1066 when William, Duke of Normandy, crossed the British Channel with an army and created a new Norman royal dynasty. Embroidered by a team of ladies reputedly right after the bloody battle. Our original reprint is 21.33' feet (256", 650cm) long and shows what happened. The Bayeux Tapestry is an embroidered cloth nearly 70 metres (230 feet) long and 50 centimetres (20 inches) tall that depicts the events leading up to the Norman Conquest of England in 1066, led by William, Duke of Normandy challenging Harold II, King of England, and culminating in the Battle of Hastings. It is thought to date to the 11th century, within a few years of the battle. Now widely accepted to have been made in England perhaps as a gift for William, it tells the story from the point of view of the conquering Normans and for centuries has been preserved in Normandy.
